Plumbing-House 2024 Study Plan -- 4 Weeks to Exam Day

A practical 4-week study plan for the Ontario Plumbing-House 2024 BCIN exam.

Week 1 – Build the system map

  • Read the official Plumbing-House syllabus once.
  • Split Part 7 into:
    • materials and equipment
    • piping
    • drainage
    • venting
    • potable water
  • Start a list of excluded sections so you do not waste time on out-of-scope topics.

Week 2 – Core Part 7 review

  • Spend one day on each major Part 7 bucket.
  • Focus on rule location, scope, and relationships between system components.
  • End each study session with a short retrieval drill: “If I had to find this again in 20 seconds, where would I go?”

Week 3 – Residential crossover

  • Review the Part 9, Part 11, and Part 12 items named in the syllabus.
  • Pay extra attention to:
    • plumbing facilities in houses
    • drainage around buildings
    • penetrations and fire separations
    • roof drains
    • renovation and change-of-use items

Week 4 – Timed mixed review

  • Run three or four timed blocks of mixed questions or self-made prompts.
  • Mix system types so you practice switching between drainage, venting, potable water, and admin items.
  • Review misses by cause:
    • wrong system bucket
    • wrong scope
    • exclusion ignored
    • searched too slowly

Final 3 days

  • Re-read your exclusion list and your own error log.
  • Review only the highest-yield crossovers and weak spots.
  • Confirm the exact code cycle tied to your Humber sitting.
