Kafka Platform Interview Prep: Red Hat Streams on OpenShift

Practise Kafka platform delivery, security, recovery and event-driven applications with Red Hat Streams on OpenShift scenarios in IT Mastery.

Updates and feedback · Professional Skills & Interview Prep

Kafka Platform Architecture and Operations is Tokenizer Inc.’s independent professional-skills practice bank, specializing in Red Hat Streams for Apache Kafka on OpenShift. Its practice questions help platform engineers and architects refresh knowledge and prepare for technical interviews. Practice is available in IT Mastery on web and mobile.

This bank is live. We refine and expand practice based on learner feedback, usage and technology changes. These are original IT Mastery questions, not official Red Hat or IBM certification questions, copied live-exam content or exam dumps. This track awards no certification and has no official exam code, passing score or duration.

Start with a platform decision

Use IT Mastery for interactive practice, or try the 25 free practice questions . Some ask for one answer and others ask for two. Before reading an explanation, identify the evidence that supports your decision and a check you would run next.

Practice areaDecisions to rehearse
Operator-managed deploymentSeparate desired state from observed status; place resources correctly; validate GitOps promotion and handover.
Architecture and data guaranteesReason about KRaft, replication, acknowledgments, partitions, replay and state recovery.
Capacity and performanceInterpret storage topology, workload measurements, headroom and bottlenecks.
Connectivity and securityDiagnose advertised endpoints, TLS, Kafka ACLs, OpenShift RBAC and network restrictions.
Integration servicesOperate Connect, reason about registry compatibility, and validate CDC and application onboarding.
Production lifecyclePlan supported upgrades, rebalancing, incident response, replication and recovery exercises.
Event-driven applicationsTrace producer and consumer behavior, Quarkus messaging and Kafka Streams processing.

Versions and scope

Version-specific platform scenarios use Red Hat Streams 3.2, Red Hat-built Kafka 4.2 and OpenShift 4.20. Application scenarios distinguish Red Hat build of Quarkus 3.27 and its BOM-managed Kafka client version from the broker version. A feature available upstream is not automatically supported by a Red Hat distribution; check the technical references for the exact deployment you use.

Topic weights are editorial learning choices, not an official certification blueprint. The track includes both platform operation and application integration. It is independent of any IBM client engagement or employer interview process.

Practise the explanation, then test it

State the requirement, identify the failure boundary, choose the next action, and describe the evidence that would confirm recovery. Change one condition—such as storage loss, a new principal or an external side effect—and explain whether your answer still holds. Pair question practice with a small lab; practice scores are not a prediction of hiring or production competence.
