Current practice

Kafka Design Patterns contains 883 original questions in IT Mastery across eight editorial topic areas, with single-answer and Select TWO interactions. The public sample contains 24 questions. This is professional-skills and interview preparation, not an official certification.

September 19, 2026 — Expanded design, code and diagnostic practice

New practice adds concise concept checks, code and record-trace interpretation, and diagnostic decisions alongside scenario and Select TWO questions. Reviews clarified routing and replay assumptions, stream/table behavior, recovery boundaries and calculation evidence.

The public sample now includes examples of the added question formats. Its answer review explains each option under its displayed letter, so a short description never leaves you guessing which choice it refers to. The broader explanation connects the decision to the scenario.

The expanded bank received content and explanation review, including checks that each rationale matches its own answer. Existing question identities and learner history are retained. These are editorial checks, not a validation of interview readiness.

September 17, 2026 — Kafka design and integration practice

Published practice covering message contracts, partitioning, reliability, stateful processing, enterprise integration, evolution, testing and architecture tradeoffs. Cases include code and record traces, calculations and four architecture/workflow diagrams across the bank.

The review tightened scenarios where unstated assumptions could change the answer. Improvements include explicit replay boundaries, atomicity and external-effect limits, partition-ordering conditions, late-data handling, reconciliation evidence, and latency/capacity calculations. Explanations distinguish what the supplied evidence proves from what still needs testing.

Every question received a content screen. Flagged questions received editorial review, with targeted primary-source checks. Focused Kafka 4.2 executable checks covered selected table/filter, join and session-window behavior. This does not mean that every code fragment was compiled or every distributed failure case was reproduced.

How to use the results

Question review is not a psychometric validation study. We have not established a relationship between practice scores and hiring decisions, nor a difficulty comparison with any vendor certification. Longer scenarios are useful only when their facts matter to the decision.

For interview preparation, explain the guarantee, identify a plausible failure, and describe a test. Review correct guesses and familiar repeated concepts as well as incorrect answers. Feedback and observed learning gaps will guide further improvements.
