PSPO II Exam Topics and Format: Readiness Checklist
Map the three PSPO II competency groups and fifteen focus areas to preparation tasks, with clear official-format and practice-format boundaries.
Official assessment format
Scrum.org lists 40 questions in 60 minutes, an 85% passing score, and Multiple Choice and Multiple Answer formats. Some questions award partial credit; no exact partial-credit method or interaction ratio is published on the assessment page. Course attendance is optional and PSPO I is recommended preparation, rather than a stated assessment prerequisite.
The PM Mastery practice here is single-select. It supports advanced product reasoning while leaving official multiple-answer and partial-credit behaviour unreplicated.
Competency checklist
| Official competency group | Focus areas to review | A useful readiness task |
|---|---|---|
| Understanding and Applying the Scrum Framework | Empiricism; Scrum Values; Scrum Team; Events; Artifacts; Scaling | Explain a product decision while preserving Scrum accountabilities and commitments |
| Managing Products with Agility | Forecasting & Release Planning; Product Vision; Product Value; Product Backlog Management; Business Strategy; Stakeholders & Customers | Compare plausible product choices using value, evidence, uncertainty and customer consequences |
| Evolving the Agile Organization | Organizational Design & Culture; Portfolio Planning; Evidence-Based Management | Explain how structure, incentives, investment and feedback affect outcomes and adaptation |
The assessment-specific suggested reading controls this focus list. Managing products receives the greatest emphasis, followed by evolving the organization. Numeric percentages are not published there. The public practice allocation is editorial 20/50/30, not a claimed official weighted blueprint.
Check understanding beyond recognition
- Explain why a usable Increment is different from a completed task list or an expected benefit.
- Distinguish product vision, Product Goal, Sprint Goal and Definition of Done in a new situation.
- Explain how customer segments, dependencies, opportunity cost or new evidence can change a Product Backlog decision.
- Read a measure with its denominator, population and time window; identify what it can establish.
- Compare organizational choices without assuming expansion, decentralisation or more process is always preferable.
