PL-300 Study Plan: Pair Power BI Practice with a Small Report
Organize PL-300 preparation around mixed questions, a small Power BI report, and focused review of data, model, report, and access mistakes.
Use IT Mastery for an opening mixed session, then make a small report your place to investigate mistakes. Choose familiar data so the business context is easy to understand. Keep the report simple enough to change one condition and see what happens.
A repeatable preparation cycle

Repeat the cycle across the four blueprint domains . Adjust the number of sessions to your experience rather than forcing every topic into one day.
Keep a useful error log
Write “the total changes because the filter reaches this table” rather than “the answer was C.” Include enough context to revisit the issue: the table grain, relevant expression, expected report behavior, or access requirement.
For each missed answer, decide whether the gap was:
- Knowledge: a feature or behavior you need to learn.
- Evidence: a fact in the question you overlooked.
- Application: you knew the parts but combined them incorrectly.
Use official resources for the first category, slow down and annotate the question for the second, and practise a changed example for the third.
Add a timed check
When untimed reasoning is comfortable, try the 50-question public practice set with a 100-minute limit. This is an editorial pacing exercise, not a reproduction of Microsoft’s item count or scoring. Review guesses as well as wrong answers.
Do not use immediate repeats of the same page as your only progress measure. Return to app questions with different facts, and verify that you can explain the result before checking the answer.
