AI-901 is the exam for Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Fundamentals. Its current scope combines AI concepts with lightweight implementation in Microsoft Foundry: prompts, model and agent clients, text and speech, visual input, and structured information extraction.

What the current AI-901 blueprint covers
Microsoft’s AI-901 study guide defines two domains:

The implementation domain carries more than half the blueprint. Prepare to interpret small Python examples and visible configuration, not just identify a service from its name. The question may turn on an endpoint, a deployment reference, the supplied input, or how the application handles a result.

Read every answer choice against the scenario. A professionally worded option can still fail one decisive requirement. For Select TWO questions, choose two independently supported answers; do not assume a familiar pair applies without checking the facts.
Who should prepare for AI-901
AI-901 suits candidates beginning AI solution development who have basic Azure-resource familiarity and can read Python syntax and programming constructs. Microsoft’s audience guidance also expects familiarity with REST APIs, SDKs, and command-line interfaces. This is a fundamentals exam, but its current scope includes working with lightweight applications.

AI-900 and AI-901
AI-900 retired on June 30, 2026. Use AI-901 for the current Azure AI Fundamentals exam route. The AI-900 page remains available for earlier-syllabus reference; its older five-domain structure is not the current AI-901 blueprint.
