FSCA RE5 Study Plan

Use a four-week FSCA RE5 study plan built around official task areas, current source checks, unseen practice, error analysis, and timed mixed sets.

Start with evidence, not confidence

Take one unseen mixed set before reviewing notes. For each miss, record:

  1. the actor whose duty or authority controlled;
  2. the rule, process, or record you confused;
  3. the fact that made the best option correct;
  4. the source or task area to revisit.

This creates a useful error log instead of a list of answer letters.

Four-week plan

WeekMain workProof of progress
1Tasks 1-3: FAIS framework, licence maintenance, and key-individual boundariesYou can classify actors, services, licence facts, and oversight duties without guessing from job titles.
2Task 4: Codes of ConductYou can work through disclosure, conflicts, suitability, advice records, custody, complaints, and termination scenarios.
3Tasks 5-7: records, FIC Act controls, and the FAIS OmbudYou can choose the right record, clock, control, escalation path, and complaint forum.
4Task 8 plus mixed reviewYou can distinguish fit and proper, supervision, register, debarment, Tribunal, and reappointment decisions under time.

Use the rebuilt bank deliberately

The current bank has 1,200 questions. Use knowledge questions to check a distinction, cases to apply it, record-based questions to extract evidence, and calculations when amounts or dates affect the regulatory result. Keep each session small enough to review the explanations properly.

Select TWO exercises in the app add practice evaluating independent conclusions. Check each option against the same facts and identify exactly two supported answers. They supplement the official single-answer format; use the 50-question free exam for a fixed single-answer pacing check.

After an error, write the deciding fact and governing rule in one sentence. Then use a different question on the same distinction. Repeating a familiar answer immediately tests recognition more than transfer.

Daily session pattern

  • 10 minutes: recall yesterday’s distinctions without notes.
  • 25 minutes: study one compact rule, role, or process from an official source.
  • 25 minutes: answer unseen questions in that task area.
  • 10 minutes: review explanations and update the error log.

Add one longer mixed session each week. Topic drills build precision; mixed retrieval proves that you can identify the task before applying the rule.

Two-week compressed plan

DaysFocus
1-2Tasks 1-2 and licence/framework distinctions
3Task 3 and role boundaries
4-6Task 4 conduct, disclosure, advice, and complaints
7First timed full-length diagnostic
8Tasks 5-6 records and FIC Act controls
9Task 7 Ombud process
10-11Task 8 fit and proper, supervision, and register duties
12Task 8 debarment, reconsideration, and reappointment
13Weak-task drills and official-source verification
14Final unseen timed set, light review, and rest

Readiness standard

Use varied mixed attempts to identify weak topics, correct guesses and answers you recognize. A practice percentage is not a validated prediction of passing; compare your work with the current official outline and use the study and review guidance to plan the next step.

Use the cheat sheet for final consolidation and the official resources whenever a current rule, form, period, or authority matters.
