Check the full outline, not only a sample score
FINRA explains that a practice test samples part of the outline and an actual exam may test other listed content. Treat any unfamiliar subtopic as study work even if you scored well on a familiar set.
Learn from a structured study text or course, use the cheat sheet to consolidate it, and practice applying the subject to unfamiliar facts. The study plan includes an error-log method; the scenario guide shows how to reason through prices, yields, and order instructions.
Rules worth checking in current materials
- Settlement cycles : distinguish execution from the next-business-day settlement of most covered securities trades.
- Rule 11140 on ex-dividend dates : understand why an ordinary ex-date may equal the record date, and why large distributions can differ.
- 2026 business-gift amendments : check the effective date, applicable limit, aggregation, exclusions, and firm procedures rather than relying on an older dollar figure.
