Where Core 1 fits

Core 1 is the first common CPA Canada Professional Education Program module. Candidate practice should separate technical recall from case judgment: identify the issue, choose the relevant accounting or assurance principle, and explain the implication in plain professional language.

What to drill when practice is available

Weak areaBetter drill type
Financial reporting classification or measurement missesShort scenario questions that force recognition, measurement, and disclosure reasoning.
Assurance terminology confusionQuestions that distinguish risk, assertion, procedure, evidence, and conclusion.
Tax or finance side issuesFocused drills that ask what matters for the candidate’s recommendation rather than a full tax memo.
Professional judgment missesMixed cases where more than one fact is relevant and the best answer requires prioritization.
