AIC Adjuster Level 3 Licensing Readiness Study Plan
Structure 7-, 14-, 30-, or 60-day Finance Prep review for AIC Adjuster Level 3 licensing knowledge and senior claims decision-making.
What this plan can and cannot do
This plan organizes Finance Prep practice. It cannot create qualifying experience, award an Insurance Institute designation, establish course equivalency, satisfy application requirements, or determine whether AIC will issue a licence.
Before beginning, compare your intended route with AIC’s current Adjuster Level 3 requirements. Record unresolved questions about licence equivalency, experience, courses, designation, recommendation, documentation, E&O, or DR status for AIC rather than trying to answer them from a practice bank.
Choose a practice window
These windows are based on your review need, not an exam date.
| Window | Best fit | Main outcome |
|---|---|---|
| 7 days | Experienced adjuster checking a narrow weakness | Confirm route facts, complete focused drills, and repair one repeated decision error. |
| 14 days | Candidate with strong claims experience but uneven regulatory or governance recall | Cover all six practice areas once and repeat the two weakest areas. |
| 30 days | Candidate preparing an application or moving toward senior responsibilities | Build a complete error log, review mixed files, and practise documented supervision decisions. |
| 60 days | Candidate using practice alongside broader professional development | Use spaced practice, scenario review, and work-product checks without treating the plan as a substitute for required experience or courses. |
Start with route verification
Complete this before measuring practice performance.
| Check | Record |
|---|---|
| Current licence standing | Exact class, jurisdiction, status, and any equivalency question for AIC |
| Level 2 foundation | How you meet or intend to document the applicable prerequisite |
| Designation | Associate/Fellow or CIP/FCIP status and supporting transcript or designation record |
| Required courses | C-32 and the applicable C-46, C-41, C-111, or accepted-equivalent evidence |
| Experience | Adjuster roles, dates, and whether the record supports the current 60-month/10-year requirement |
| Intended role | Personal Level 3 licence, Level 3 DR, or another route requiring clarification |
| Firm controls | Recommendation, criminal check, E&O, business licence, and application responsibilities that apply |
Do not mark an uncertain item complete. Mark it verify with AIC.
Six-area practice sequence
| Pass | Focus | Work product |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Licensing authority, supervision, and DR duties | One-page route and responsibility map |
| 2 | Claim governance, coverage direction, and file quality | File-review checklist with evidence, authority, diary, and correction controls |
| 3 | Complex property, commercial losses, and recovery | Cause-scope-valuation-recovery issue map |
| 4 | Automobile, casualty, and bodily injury | Coverage-liability-damages-privacy-authority matrix |
| 5 | Liability, litigation, settlement, and recovery | Settlement-readiness and rights-preservation checklist |
| 6 | Leadership, ethics, mentoring, and regulatory practice | Supervision note showing issue, instruction, owner, escalation, and follow-up |
Daily practice rhythm
| Block | 30-minute session | 60-minute session | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| Retrieval | 5 min | 10 min | Restate route facts, authority boundaries, and recent error rules without looking. |
| Focused questions | 10 min | 20 min | Work one Level 3 practice area. |
| Explanation review | 10 min | 20 min | Identify the decisive fact, evidence gap, authority point, and required record. |
| Transfer note | 5 min | 10 min | Write how the principle would appear in a real file review or supervision discussion. |
Weekly structure for a 30-day plan
| Week | Practice focus | Readiness check |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Official route, licence/DR distinction, supervision, claim governance | Explain what Finance Prep can test and what only AIC can decide. |
| 2 | Complex property, commercial loss, expert use, salvage, and recovery | Review a scenario without merging cause, coverage, scope, value, and recovery. |
| 3 | Automobile, bodily injury, liability, litigation, and settlement | Build a recommendation that preserves privacy, authority, evidence, limitation, and release controls. |
| 4 | Leadership, ethics, mixed scenarios, and repeated misses | Detect the control failure, direct a correction, document supervision, and set follow-up. |
Error log for senior practice
| Field | What to write |
|---|---|
| Decision point | The exact question the facts required you to answer |
| Error type | Route confusion, authority gap, evidence gap, technical issue, control failure, or communication problem |
| Decisive fact | The fact that made the preferred answer stronger |
| Required control | Approval, diary, file note, expert, legal review, privacy step, payment check, or escalation |
| Transfer | How you would recognize and manage the same issue in another file |
| Retest date | When you will answer a new scenario without relying on the original wording |
Completion standard
Finish the plan when you can:
- state the official route elements without claiming Finance Prep proves eligibility;
- distinguish Level 3 personal authority from Level 3 DR firm responsibility;
- review a mixed file in a stable order rather than reacting to the loudest fact;
- identify missing evidence and authority before supporting a consequential action;
- document correction, instruction, escalation, ownership, and follow-up; and
- explain missed answers in your own words on a delayed retest.
That is practice readiness. AIC remains the decision-maker for the licence application.
